Needville Schedule Let me know if you have any questions! Jefferson As you may know, TMSCA State is a big tournament that requires a lot of planning and funds from the club. With that being said, we would love to have as many members go as possible, but we want to make sure that everyone that goes is committed to going.
The signup for tests has already closed, and no more entries should be added. However, if you would like to change your mind and not attend this tournament, you are free to do so until tonight, January 22, at 11:59PM. After this date, if you are signed up, you MUST attend this trip unless an emergency occurs, because we will have put in money for hotels and for buses. Signups for Saturday lunch and for food items (donations) will be open until further notice. Thank you for your cooperation! Jefferson Hi everyone!
This is a friendly reminder that we will be having practice on Thursday, January 24 for General Math and General Science. For both General Math and General Science, please bring your test papers from last week AND Seven Lakes UIL A! ** In order to use our time the most effectively, please go through and review the test at home, and bring your questions (after you have reviewed) to the meeting so that you can learn! Don't wait until the meeting to look at the test. Please fill out the absence form if you are unable to make it to these meetings. If you have any questions, please let me know. See you all soon! Thank you! Jefferson (This is a repost.)
TMSCA State will be on March 15 and 16th this year! We will stay one night overnight. All members are required to come, but if we find that you aren't doing your Boardhost homework, or you aren't coming to meetings regularly, we will drop your registration from the trip! (Of course, if this happens, you won't be penalized for not coming to the tournament, but we DON'T want this to happen to anyone, because TMSCA State is a fun trip!) All your costs (transportation, test fees, hotel rooms) are paid for, but you will need to bring your own money for food. For Saturday Lunch, we will be eating the food that TMSCA provides, but you will need to pay the Math and Science Club, since we need to give the money to TMSCA beforehand. More info will be coming about this soon. Please sign-up for which tests you want to do! In addition, I've added a few snack items that you can sign up to bring and receive hours for. Please also choose if you want the "barbecue" option or the "vegetarian" option for Saturday lunch. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0548AAA82FA7F85-march More information is in the description of the Sign-Up. This signup will end on Sunday, January 20th! Please make sure you don't miss out on this trip! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to let me know! Jefferson For General Math: Please print out your own copy of the test. We'll be doing 17-18 Test #6. Please also take the time to review your number sense tips and tricks at home.
For General Science: Please print out your own copy of the test. We'll be doing 16-17 Test #7. We will complete the biology section during practice, but please complete the physics and chemistry sections on your own time. Also, please bring back the tests from last week or any other tests that you have questions with so that we can review. Please make sure that you are posting problems and solutions on the forum! The forum is located at elkinsmathandscience.boardhost.com. The "start of the week" will be on the day of the practice, meaning that the weeks reset every Thursday for GM and GS. Problems should be posted 4 days after the day of practice (Sunday) so that people that post solutions will have ample time to post their solutions. The new forums for each week will be posted on the day of practice (Thursday for GM and GS.) This is a team effort! Everyone needs to be contributing 5 problems and 5 solutions in order for it to work! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Jefferson For Number Sense: Please print out your own copy of the test. We'll be doing 16-17 Test #9. After we finish the test, then we will go through this test, as well as the test from Seven Lakes UIL A. If you didn't receive your Seven Lakes UIL A test, please ask for it at the meeting. Please also take the time to review your number sense tips and tricks at home.

Jefferson We're going to be starting Boardhost again this semester!
We tried a small experiment last semester, and I think that the problem was that there weren't enough people participating. For the people that actually used it, problems and solutions were posted, and I think it will really help. If you don't know what the Boardhost is or didn't do it last semester during the trial, it's basically a forum where you can post things. We're going to use it so that people can post problems, and other people can post solutions to those problems as comments underneath the original problem post. The Boardhost is located at elkinsmathandscience.boardhost.com. Starting this week (1/13 thru 1/19), everyone will be required to post 5 problems and 5 solutions on the Boardhost per week. If you do your "homework" weekly, then you'll be eligible to go to contests, as well as fun trips like TMSCA State! However, if you don't, then you might not be able to go to contests .-. so make sure you do the Boardhost! Your 5 problems need to be posted, at the latest, 4 days after the test's meeting date, so that people have ample time to post solutions. This means:
